New camera - Fuji XP120

The new camera in nice bright green!

I have wanted to get a waterproof camera for ages as my poor Samsung compact does suffer when used out in the rain and has stopped working a few times.  I also struggle to use a phone as camera and find it cumbersome.

Originally I was keen on the very nice Olympus TG-5 but at close to £400, I decide to give that one a miss.  In the end I went for the Fuji XP120 @ £120 from John Lewis.  Been testing it the last few days and it looks pretty good value for money.   You will be seeing some photos taken on the XP120 on here real soon!

Neat features of the XP120

  • Obviously rugged and waterproof.
  • Nice big viewing screen
  • 1080p at 60FPS
  • Got a 120FPS at lower res for slow motion shots
  • 15mm Action cam setting for stills or videos
  • WIFI connection for transferring photos across to mobile phone
  • Although it doesn't have the creativity to change shutter speed and aperture, it does have many different scene options

Count down to holiday in Scotland

Our Easter hols.
The Gatens family (Paul, Tess, Ben and Joey) are heading for Scotland this Easter.  We catch a train from Stevenage (on the 4th April) to Glasgow where we pick up a Tribute 726 camper van (made by Autotrail - https://www.auto-trail.co.uk/range/tribute/726/technical-data).   It is a Fiat Ducato based camper with a 110 or maybe 130bhp oil burner and six speed manual gearbox (hope it isn't the auto), might be lucky and get 40mpg.

Auto Trail Tribute 726

It should be a nice little adventure which also includes Woody (the Golden Doodle).

This is the planned route of 563 miles which we plan to cover in 9 days
